Lysara Pagemoss
Other
Lysara Pagemoss
Species
Gnome (Forest)
Appearance
Petite even for a gnome, Lysara moves with a quick, precise economy: the tilt of her head like a page turning, the way her hands hover over books as if expecting them to breathe. Her face is freckled in ink-brown dots where she has absentmindedly smudged marginalia for years. She wears a waist-length jacket of patched velvet with innumerable inside pockets; when she walks, tiny bells sewn into the hem tinkle in a deliberate, bookish rhythm. Unexpectedly, she keeps a pair of heavy, soot-darkened traveling boots, scuffed and far too practical for a librarian, hinting at secret pilgrimages. She smells faintly of parchment, lemon oil, and pipe tobacco—an odd habit for a woman who claims not to touch smoking pipes.
“Measured and slightly sing-song in casual company; precise and clipped when cataloging. She peppers speech with bibliophile metaphors ('That idea is dog-eared') and uses old gnomish idioms when remembering her childhood in the enclave.”

Distinguishing Features
Tiny bells on jacket hem that tinkle like a page being turned
Ink-freckled fingertips and one deliberately scarred knuckle from a book-binding accident
Moss-green streak in hair—stained from a fey herb, she claims, though she never says why
Voice
“Light and quick, with a scholarly lilt; when excited her sentences become clipped and rapid, like flipping through index cards”
Clothing
Layered waistcoat with sewn-in pockets and leather elbow patches; a broad scarf printed with faded script languages; fingerless gloves for ink control; soot-dark travel boots; an ever-present brooch shaped like a closed book that doubles as a lockpick-case
Body Language
Always found with hands slightly ink-stained; when thinking she taps the fingertips of one hand against the other as if counting pages; when lying she smooths the edge of a page absentmindedly
