Appearance
Kipthorn is a small, rounded hedgehog with a dignified, slightly stooped posture. His quills are a mottled russet and ash, tipped in a pale ivory that look almost like inked calligraphy at a distance. He wears a set of layered, travel-worn robes—thin linen dyed the color of pressed tea leaves under a sleeveless wool jerkin—tied with a wide, bristle-woven sash. An old polished quarterstaff is always within reach; a stitched, hand-painted map peeks from a hidden pocket. Close up, one notices the tiny brown smudges staining the inside of his forequills—tea stains he never quite manages to wash out—and a narrow crescent scar across his left cheek where a poacher’s snare once cut him. He moves with surprising economy: little, sharp steps that avoid snapping twigs, a careful balance between rolling defensively into a ball and springing into a coiled, cat-like lunge. Unexpectedly, despite his defensive spines and martial readiness, he carries an old wind-up music box under his cloak and often winds it before sleeping, a contradiction of steel and lullaby.
“Sparse, slow measured sentences punctuated with short folk-proverbs; often uses culinary or botanical metaphors ('Stir the tea, then let the heat show you the color of the truth')..”

Crescent scar along left cheek
Tea-stained marks inside forequills

Layered linen and wool robes in tea-green and charcoal, bristle-woven sash with hidden compartments, supple leather footwraps, wrist wraps scored from training
Body Language
Tends to fold his forepaws neatly when listening, puffs his quills only when startled, and rolls into a defensive ball when overwhelmed (but does so with deliberate slowness that signals control rather than panic).
