Shop Atmosphere
“The shop is small and warm, saturated with the smell of dried herbs, oats, and a hint of coop straw. Merric One-Eye sits on a stool behind a scuffed counter, his patched eye-patch propped up when he tells a good tale. He lost his eye to a runaway threshing blade years ago and jokes that the remaining eye never misses a bargain. A fat, bossy hen named Clucksworth wanders freely between sacks and shelves—she'll sometimes lay an egg behind the flour sacks and peck at coins if left unattended. Merric offers a free cup of ale to travelers who can make the hen sit on their shoulder; most return with flour on their boots and a tale to tell.”
