How does the generator work?
Simply input your party's level, select a shop type, and optionally add themes or special requirements. The generator will create a complete shop with a unique shopkeeper, inventory, and quirks, all balanced for your party's level and the selected game system.
What types of shops can I generate?
You can generate various types of fantasy shops including general stores, blacksmiths, magic shops, potion shops, armouries, weapon smiths, jewellers, bookstores, scroll shops, fletchers, herbalists, alchemists, and even custom shop types of your own creation.
Can I generate a D&D magic shop specifically?
Yes. Select 'Magic Shop' as the shop type to generate a magic emporium: a D&D magic shop stocked with scrolls, potions, wands, and magic items appropriate to your party's level. The generator also creates a matching shopkeeper, often an eccentric mage or retired adventurer, with their own personality in the shop's quirks, prices for every item, and quirks you can use as plot hooks.
Which game systems are supported?
The generator primarily supports D&D 5E and Pathfinder, but it can be used with any fantasy RPG system. The Game System menu lists D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Pathfinder 2E, Daggerheart, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Dungeon World, Mörk Borg, OSR, Savage Worlds (SWADE), Shadowdark and Generic Fantasy, and you can type in your own. The prices and items follow the system you pick. For D&D 5E they are particularly balanced for the 5E economy, but can be easily adapted for other systems.
Can I customise the generated shops?
Yes. You can influence the generation by specifying themes, adding extra details, picking a game system, and choosing custom shop types. The generator takes your party's level into account to ensure appropriate inventory and pricing.

What can I set before I generate a shop?
A shop type from the form's menu, quoted as the form spells it (General Store, Blacksmith, Magic Shop, Potion Shop, Armory, Weapon Smith, Jeweler, Bookstore, Scroll Shop, Fletcher, Herbalist or Alchemist) or your own, a party level from 1 to 20 (5 by default), an optional theme such as Dwarven or Elven, a game system (D&D 5E by default) or your own, and any extra details you want the shop to include.
Does the shop generator give items with prices?
Yes. Every item in the stock list has a name, a type, a description and a price, set for your party level and game system, so a D&D 5E or Pathfinder shop prices its stock in gold pieces. Each shop also has a stash behind the counter with a security check (a skill and a DC) and what happens if a thief fails it. The PDF export prints the stock, the shopkeeper and the stash.
