Shop Atmosphere
“The shop always smells faintly of pine resin and fresh-cut feather. When a customer approaches, the proprietor taps three times on the counter and whistles a short rising trill. He will often let a tame hawk perch on a customer's shoulder while fittings are made. He writes receipts on scraps of birch bark and ties them to arrows as a joke. He will haggle for barter but refuses coin peddled by loud or rude people. He keeps a small brazier of coals under the workbench to heat arrowheads and dry glue.”
