The shop is warm to the bone: heat shimmers off the forge and the floorboards are darkened by coal dust. Hilda, Borin's apprentice, whistles old dwarven hammer songs while sweeping and will insist you try a steel-cleaning tonic before a purchase. The smith marks used gear with a tiny anvil symbol; if a customer returns within three days claiming a defect, Borin will brew a cup of strong tea and politely fix the issue on the spot.
