Miscellaneous6

A stout iron-tipped quill favored by duergar scribes; resists chipping and produces an even, dark line on stone and parchment alike.

Grants advantage on checks to copy text or transcribe under adverse conditions (smoke, dust). +1 to Intelligence(Investigation) checks when reading faded script.

Thick, oil-treated sheets that resist moisture and fainting — preferred for maps of flooded caverns.

Sheets resist water, acid splashes, and mild flame; text stays legible unless destroyed by major damage.

A small iron-bound vial of dense black ink, made with iron filings and soot—permanent on most common papers.

Text written with this ink is much harder to remove; removing magically (dispel magic, remove curse style effects) is easier to detect as tampering.

An iron-ribbed blank spellbook lined for neat copying; heavy but secure. Popular with duergar who prefer durable tomes.

Grants +1 to checks made to copy spells into it (when used by someone proficient in Arcana).

A hand-inked, scaled map of a portion of Gracklstugh's mining levels and maintenance shafts. Includes secret maintenance doors noted in duergar shorthand.

Grants advantage on navigation checks within the mapped area. Portions marked as 'hazard' may be inaccurate after recent shifts.

A small glass lamp fueled by a smoky, slow-burning oil. Emits dim light in a 10-foot radius and faint warm glow for another 10 feet.

Light is unaffected by dampness; oil gives off a smell that masks other odors, handy for working near mines.
Miscellaneous4

A well-annotated duergar compendium on identifying fungi, their uses, and their dangers.

Provides advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to forage for edible fungi in the Underdark. Contains a recipe for an antiseptic poultice (+ HP when applied once per long rest, DM fiat).

An official-looking ledger detailing tariffs, mine yields, and common trades in Gracklstugh. Useful for mercantile and social interactions with duergar.

Grants advantage on Charisma (Persuasion/Intimidation) checks when negotiating trade or bribery with Gracklstugh merchants if presented and not obviously forged.

A soot-dark hardcover that quietly absorbs ambient light; its pages rearrange to present the spell you most recently studied.

Once per long rest, when you study this grimoire for at least 1 hour, it allows you to prepare one additional ritual spell that you have written in it. Also grants +2 to Intelligence (Investigation) checks related to locating specific passages within it.

A thick volume with several pages of original duergar enchantment theory. Not a complete manual, but contains ritual formulas and notes used in labor wards and infirmary charms.

Studying the treatise for 8 hours grants advantage on a single Arcana check to create or disable a simple enchantment ward (DM discretion). Contains one usable formula that can be expended to enchant a small object with a +1 protection ward for 24 hours.
Miscellaneous3

A carefully scribed parchment enchanted to cast Silence as cast from a 2nd-level slot when read.

Casts Silence (as the spell) when used. Single-use. Requires a spellcaster to read.

An uncommon protective scroll inscribed with wards against aberrant creatures common in the Underdark.

When read, casts Protection from Evil and Good with a specific focus on aberrations for 10 minutes (appears as Protection from Evil and Good but DM may flavor as more effective against aberrations).

A careful scribing of a 2nd-level restoration effect; widely valued by tunnel crews for curing poisons, diseases, and paralysis.

Casts Lesser Restoration when read. Single-use.

Shop Atmosphere

Molten Margins is dimly lit by soot-glass lamps; the air smells faintly of oil and iron. Kurgin insists all wares be paid for up front and keeps an ever-present tally etched into a sheet of metal hanging behind the counter. He refuses to sell anything that could directly harm a duergar and offers steep discounts for duergar customers or those who bring rare mine-maps. If a book is opened without permission, Kurgin will make a rude mark in the margins—an easily spotted signature that lowers a forgery's value in Gracklstugh.
