Shop Atmosphere
“The Willow Quill sits beneath a leaning willow at the edge of a farming hamlet. Shelves of rolled scrolls crowd a warm, sunlit counter. The shopkeeper, Mara Fallow, is a quietly earnest human woman who learned spellcrafts to help her neighbors; she keeps prices modest and will barter a scroll for a favor or fresh produce. Her assistant, a male ratfolk named Nib, scurries about tidying pens and delivering parcels—he chatters opinions about customers and frequently offers a free scrap of parchment (usually sticky with honey). Mara refuses to sell charm or compulsion scrolls to obvious bullies, and she has a tiny bell shaped like a quill that jangles when a new customer enters. On stormy nights she tacks baking to the counter; patrons leave with tea and a low-fatigue incantation tucked between pages.”
