High-quality vellum suitable for scribing spell scrolls or keeping magical notes. Sold singly.

None; treated as fine writing material for spellcraft checks.

Black ink with a faint shimmer; ordinary and reliable for nonmagical writing and simple scrolls.

None.

Rare, soot-dark ink formulated for crisp, long-lasting enchantments. Favored by professional scribes.

When used to scribe a scroll by a caster on the appropriate spell list, the scroll gains a +2 to the DM's roll when testing for instability during a mishap in the scribing process (story-flavor).

A delicately balanced quill with a comfortable grip and a hairline tip that makes fine sigils easy to ink.

Grants +1 on Intelligence (Arcana) or Dexterity (Calligrapher's tools) checks made to scribe a scroll.

Simple leather tube for carrying a scroll; locks with a wax seal.

None.

A stick of sealing wax and a basic brass stamp for sealing scroll tubes and documents.

None.

A bound stack of high-quality parchment intended for note-taking, copying spells, or bookmaking.

None.

A well-made satchel lined to protect scrolls from moisture and light.

None.

A small enchanted satchel that keeps scrolls dry and stops ordinary decay. Favored by traveling mages.

Any nonmagical degradation (ink fading, mildew) is halted while the scroll is inside; if a scroll would be subjected to a single nonmagical damaging effect (water splash, dampness), the satchel absorbs it instead (one time per day).

A candle whose smoke prevents minor ink smears and removes faint smudges when burned nearby.

Burning the candle for 10 minutes grants a +1 on any scribing attempts made while it burns.
Miscellaneous16

Read to cast the Mage Hand cantrip once. Useful for fetching small items or manipulating far-away objects.

Creates the spectral hand as per the Mage Hand cantrip. If the reader lacks the spell on their class list, they must succeed on an Intelligence (Arcana) check () to use it.

A scroll that casts the Light cantrip on touch.

Emits bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim for an additional 20 feet.

A single-use casting of Prestidigitation for small ritual effects: clean, soil, flavor, etc.

Per the Prestidigitation cantrip's minor effects.

A single-use scroll that fires three glowing darts which unerringly strike targets.

Each dart hits automatically; no attack roll required. If unreadable by the user, an Arcana check () is required to use.

Grants an instantaneous reactive shield when read.

AC +5When read, grants a bonus to AC until the start of the reader's next turn (as the Shield spell). If the reader lacks the spell on their class list, make an Arcana check ().

Allows the reader to sense magical auras for the spell's duration.

Detects magic auras within 30 feet for up to 10 minutes (concentration).

A practical scroll for understanding a single magic item or enchantment.

Functions as the Identify spell: reveals properties, charges, and command words of a single object.

Instantly teleport up to 30 feet to a spot you can see.

Teleports the reader up to 30 feet as a bonus action (as Misty Step). Arcana check () required if the spell is not on the reader's class list.

Creates illusory duplicates to confuse attackers.

Creates three illusory duplicates as Mirror Image. Offers significant defensive advantage.

A potent scroll that can paralyze a humanoid target on a failed Wisdom save.

Target must make a Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed for up to 1 minute (concentration).

A fearsome scroll that detonates into a massive sphere of flame.

Emits a 20-foot radius explosion. Target creatures can make a Dexterity save for half damage.

A defensive scroll that can interrupt another spellcaster.

When read in reaction to another creature casting a spell, it attempts to interrupt it (as Counterspell). For spells above 3rd level, a spellcasting ability check is required.

Grants one creature the power of flight for a short time.

Grants 30 feet of flying speed for up to 10 minutes (concentration).

Transforms a creature into a new form. Powerful and rare in a shop of this size.

Transforms the target into a beast form (as Polymorph). If the target fails the saving throw it is transformed; provides potent battlefield or utility options.

A small, fortunate charm in scroll form. When read, grants its reader a brief boon to creative endeavor.

Once when read, grants advantage on one Intelligence (Arcana) or Dexterity (Calligrapher's tools) check made within the next hour.

A previously owned or imperfect scroll offered cheap. Effects might be intact or slightly risky.

Contents vary. Bram inspects and will tell you if it is safe (sometimes partial fading means an Arcana check to use).

Shop Atmosphere

Bramble keeps a steady pot of nettle-tea brewing and insists customers explain why they want risky spells before he sells high-level scrolls. The shop smells of ink, lemon oil, and singed parchment; a sleepy barn-owl named 'Cinder' sleeps on a shelf. Bram will haggle moderately for rare inks or exchange a favor (knowledge of a unique spell or a rare component) rather than coin. He catalogs every sale in a small leather ledger bound with protective runes — ask politely and he may tell you what scrolls recently traded hands.
