Maris Tallow
Shop Atmosphere
“Tallow & Sundries is a narrow, lantern-lit shop tucked off a busy side street. Shelves are half-empty, and a chalkboard behind the counter lists items out of stock. Maris speaks in practical, clipped sentences but softens with tea and a biscuit. She keeps one shelf of goods 'for the watch' and another 'for travelers' — she'll quietly reserve a last potion or rope for parties she deems honorable. She's stingy with discounts but willing to barter services, favors, or good news about the city. If the party helps restock her from a nearby ruined granary or retrieves a lost ledger, she'll cut prices and possibly lend the party the climber's kit or the thieves' tools for free.”
