(19)A charred stick bound with tallow. Casts bright light for a short time — common, disposable.
Sturdy, rough-fiber rope, suitable for climbing and binding.
Flint, steel and charcloth in a small wooden box — used to start fires reliably.
Dried meat, hard biscuits and strange preserved herbs. Tastes odd but keeps.
Leather waterskin, holds about 4 pints. Smells faintly of lavender and old coins.
A small kit of picks, mirrors, and probes. Well-worn but functional.
A brass lantern with a sliding hood; uses oil to burn and can be dimmed to avoid attention.
A curled scrap of parchment inked with sigils. Can be read to cast Detect Magic once.
A small coin carved from a knuckle bone. It feels cool in the hand and faintly hums in dim light.
A small iron pendant hung with a sliver of gloomglass. Warm to the touch; voices seem slightly muffled when worn.
A sootless candle that never consumes wax and emits a steady dim, warm light.
A smoky glass globe that, when lit, reveals cold traces of past movement as faint wisps for 1 minute.
Iron bar suitable for prying doors, crates and small coffins open.
A small, sharp blade with a darkened hilt. Balanced for throwing.
Light, one-handed blade useful for quick strikes; the blade has shallow notches that look almost like script.
Toughened leather armor, supple and dark-stained. Fits most adults with minor adjustments.
Round wooden shield reinforced with iron; painted with a faded crescent motif.
A small vial of red liquid. Heals hit points when drunk.
A bitter, chalky salve that neutralizes common poisons if administered promptly.
Zayda of the Veil
Shop Atmosphere
“The Old Coin sits wedged between a pawn and a funeral parlor. The bell above the door is a ring of tiny metal coins that chime like distant teeth. Candlelight never burns completely here; shadows pool at the far end and sometimes seem to rearrange the displayed trinkets overnight. Zayda of the Veil greets customers in a hushed voice, eyes rimmed with smudged kohl, wearing a veil partly obscuring her face. She accepts coin, uncommon curios, rumors, and sometimes a whispered secret as partial payment. She keeps a small, locked shrine behind the counter from which a cold draft leaks — locals don't ask what's in it. Zayda is helpful but guarded; bargains can be had if you barter for information or tell a story that makes her smile. Occasionally a patron notices a price tag rewritten in different ink by morning.”
