Shop Atmosphere
“The shop itself is cluttered and dim, with almost every item bearing a price sticker and an asterisk. Many items come with 'friendly disclaimers' written on tiny slips of parchment and pinned with a brass tack. Merrin insists certain items are 'guaranteed not to be cursed' while displaying a tiny shelf of known curses behind a crimson curtain. Regulars haggle by slipping small favors into the 'favor jar' and the owner sometimes rings a bell to announce 'special clearance'—a moment when dubious bargains appear and a marked item vanishes from the shelf later that night. The shop smells of beeswax, ink, and stale pipe smoke. Hidden among the wares are several sealed boxes labeled KEEP OUT; they sometimes hum faintly.”
