Shop Atmosphere
“The shop sits under a crooked sign that reads The Gilded Lantern. Inside the high, smoky room, shelves are crowded with brass and iron lantern bodies, painted paper shades, jars of fungi, and racks of polished lenses. The scent of pine oil and beeswax hangs in the air. Small hooks dangling from the ceiling hold lanterns in various stages of repair so they catch passing light and sway slowly. The owner whistles old caravan tunes as she works and keeps a tiny amber glowseed jar near the counter that she calls her 'moodlight'. She refuses to sell a sky lantern when the wind is stronger than a gentle breeze. She offers free minor repairs for travelers who trade a good story.”
