Shop Atmosphere
“Sable Needle & Shade sits beneath a crooked sign and a string of bone buttons in Khromarium's west common quarter. The shop smells of tar, boiled wool, and a faint metallic tang. Mirrors are positioned so customers never see their reflection head-on. The proprietor mumbles old tailoring chants as she works and counts stitches out loud in a low cadence. Customers are asked to leave a single coin and a scrap of cloth when requesting alteration to a garment intended to hide identity. Children of the quarter sometimes slip the shop a trinket; the shopkeeper keeps these in a small locked chest that she polishes on odd nights.”
