Shop Atmosphere
“The shop sits under a low eave off the market square. The bellows huff on a slow rhythm that locals claim matches the smith's heartbeat. Walls are lined with half-finished blades, horseshoes, and battered shields. A shallow trough beside the forge collects cooling water and iron filings, and the smell of hot metal and oil hangs in the air. The shopkeeper writes a small mark on each item he sells using a bent punch shaped like a crescent; customers can ask for that mark to be left off for "undisclosed deliveries." He offers modest discounts to veterans and to adventurers who bring ore or intact monster parts for barter, but he charges more for sudden rush work. The cat of the shop, called Temper, naps on a pile of scrap but will hop onto a new blade to test its balance.”
