The shop smells of wet moss and honey; wind-chimes of hollow acorns jingle by the door and animals often roam free under Tahlira's watch. Tahlira herself hums when she sells living creatures — buyers must offer a small sweet (a thimble of honey or a folded leaf of candied mint) before a sentient beast is shown unsheathed. She refuses to sell to merchants intending cruelty: many patrons swear the nursery's fey wards make dishonest intentions show as a faint grey fog around the offender.
