Shop Atmosphere
“The Brass Bindle sits under a clocktower turret at the end of the market lane, its front window full of spinning cogs, copper pipes, and polished lenses. Inside, steam hisses low from a radiator line and shelves teem with travel provisions reworked in brass: oil tins labeled with hand-lettered runes, rope bound with leather rivets, and a row of brass goggles hung like spoons. The proprietor, Merrin Cogble, is a talkative rock gnome artificer who wears a soot-dark apron threaded with pockets. Merrin prefers trading stories to coin and will often accept a well-repaired clockwork part, a promising map, or a favor in place of full payment. They keep a clockwork cat on the counter that winds itself and bats at dangling compasses. Merrin speaks in quick bursts, names inventions after patrons, and tacks small free repairs onto any purchase. Beware: they are fond of haggling with riddles and will sometimes add a free curiosity to a purchase if they believe it will find a good home.”
