“The Frostwell Emporium sits carved into a ledge above the main mountain trail, its front windows rimed with frost even in summer. Inside, the air smells of pine and camphor; braided icicle chandeliers tinkle when travelers talk loudly. Shelves are arranged to resemble terraces of a mountainside, with furs and gear on the lower tiers and delicate glass vials displayed like glacier pools. The proprietor, Brynja Frostmantle, is a broad-shouldered goliath wizard of level 4 who once guided caravans through the high passes. Her voice is low and warm, and she greets visitors with a steaming cup of spiced tea. She keeps a map board filled with snapped twine markers showing recent avalanches and safe routes. Brynja values travelers who share news of the passes and will sometimes trade a small discount for accurate trail information or rare mountain herbs. She has a melodic habit of tapping runes on items with a blue-gloved finger before sale and always asks whether the buyer intends to travel alone.”
