Shop Atmosphere
“Fen's sits on the market lane just off the square. The shop smells of beeswax, oil, and dried herbs; a sleepy gray cat named Penny drapes herself over the counter and will insist on inspecting any coins placed down. Marla weighs items on an old brass scale that creaks; she gives a friendly 5% discount to returning customers or those who bring news from neighboring farms. Haggling is expected but she won't sell restricted or obviously stolen goods. She keeps a small locked trunk of 'useful things' behind the counter—rare items appear there only occasionally, and she'll sell a potion of healing to a clearly desperate traveler. Orders for special or bulk items take about a week, with a small deposit.”
