The Thornwells are warm and hospitable; they are a Black family with tightly curled hair who patched the store together with care, sewing and hammered brass where they could. Business has been slow; a loan shark now holds a stamped notice in the shop window and rough-handed thugs come by to remind the family of their debt. The owners will trade kindness for work: they will give small discounts for help cleaning, bringing in supplies, or doing odd jobs. The ledger page on the counter is a blunt plot hook, and many of the Thornwell wares are humble, patched, and priced to be reachable by low-level adventurers.”
