Shop Atmosphere
“Iron smoke curls from the forge like a second sun. The shop is a low stone building lined with racks of cooling weapons and armors, the floor etched with hammered sparks. A bellows hisses in the back where a well-used anvil sits. Customers who ask about discounts are met with a wink and a strike: if you help move a barrel or hold a blade while Brom sharpens it, you might earn a few copper. On the counter is a jar of nails counted and recounted each morning. The smell is hot iron, boiled linseed, and black tea. The forge plays a steady rhythm of hammer on steel. Unique to the shop is a small rack of slightly mismatched painted nails that Brom claims were used in an old war-helm, and a carved wooden sign of a clenched fist lending the shop a local, lived-in charm.”
