Shop Atmosphere
“Anvil & Aether sits two stories below street level in a back alley that reeks faintly of ozone and hot metal. A brass sign with a stylized anvil and a sigil of a closed gauntlet swings quietly by the door. Inside, the shop is a blend of workshop and arcane laboratory: overhead lamps hum with trapped lightning, and shelves hold toolboxes, neatly labeled crystal cells, and racks of both conventional blades and more modern, hybrid weapons. The owner is Morgan 'Forge' Reyes, an urbane human artificer who served for years as a field smith for clandestine operations. Reyes is level 9, brusque but meticulous, with ink-black hair pulled back and a pair of arcane goggles that glow faintly when he examines a new commission. He recognizes the Black Gloves insignia and offers discrete services, quiet conversation, and harshly practical advice. He prefers contracts in writing and payment up front, offers limited-risk warranties on enchanted items to known agencies, and dislikes proselytizers. He hums old ironworker chants while he files; when angered he speaks in clipped sentences, but he will go out of his way to aid those who keep secrets and keep their word.”
