Shop Atmosphere
“The Iron Anvil sits on a cobbled alley off the trade road; heat shimmers from its open forge and the air smells of coal, hot metal and strong coffee. Tools hang from the rafters and finished weapons line the back wall, each with a tiny hammer-stamp mark. Borin Forgehelm, a broad-shouldered dwarf with coal-darkened braids and a laugh like struck iron, runs the shop. He served as a militia smith and fought in one winter skirmish; now he prefers haggling to hacking. He insists on testing every blade in a dry rut outside the shop and will only sell a weapon he would trust with his son's life. Borin is proud, talkative, and a touch superstitious — he taps a coin on the anvil for luck before ringing up a sale. He offers small discounts to adventurers who bring in damaged gear to be repaired and will sometimes trade favored stories or minor favours for free sharpening.”
