Shop Atmosphere
“The Iron & Ember sits at the end of Ironway Alley: black soot on the lintel, a signboard scorched at one corner, and the constant hiss of quenched steel. Brom Ironbellow — a broad-shouldered hill dwarf (Artificer, level 12) — runs the forge; his beard is singed, his left forearm bears hammer scars, and a little soot bird nests on the anvil when he feels generous. He greets customers with a curt nod, a glass of bitter ale, and a blunt, practical opinion on whether a weapon's problem is the metal or the wielder. Brom will haggle with traders, bargain with mercenaries, and will only sell the rarest wares to those he trusts. Pricing & rules notes (for DMs): this shop's currency and pricing follow standard 5e denominations (cp, sp, ep, gp, pp) and the PHB/SRD equipment price conventions. citeturn0search2 Magic-item price bands and rarity guidance are taken from the Dungeon Master's Guide's magic item rarity/value guidance; this shop prices uncommon items toward the high end of that band (≈500 gp), rares around ≈5,000 gp, and very rare items ≈50,000 gp unless otherwise negotiated. citeturn1search3turn1search0 Potion statistics (healing dice and rarity) follow the SRD/DMG tables (potion of healing = 2d4+2, common; greater healing = 4d4+4, uncommon). citeturn2search3 Brom accepts commissions to craft and to sell items; consult Xanathar's Guide to Everything / DM guidance for finding/selling and crafting magic items (fees, time, and complications) if you want to make enchanting a party-planned activity rather than an instant shop service. citeturn0search7”
