AC +1Grants a bonus to AC and to all saving throws while worn.

A rough-spun sack tied with a braided golden cord. The interior always seems larger than it should be.

Holds up to 500 pounds, not exceeding a volume of 64 cubic feet. Items placed in the bag do not change weight for the user.

A scroll sealed with wax that smells faintly of brimstone; unfurling it crackles with contained heat.

If the user is not a spellcaster of the appropriate level, an ability check using spellcasting ability + spell level is required to cast the scroll without mishap.

A slim rod of polished yew inlaid with mother-of-pearl runes. It thrums with stored force.

Spend 1 charge to cast Magic Missile at 1st level (scales: 2 charges for 2nd level, etc.). If you expend the last charge, roll a d20; on a 1 the wand becomes nonmagical.

A snug pair of leather gloves with no visible seams on the palms and a stitched pattern of tiny keys.

Invisible padding in the palms improves manual dexterity for subtle work.

A heart-shaped locket with a tiny keyhole that only opens when the correct riddle is answered. It faintly echoes with past voices.

Base effect: once per day the locket whispers a helpful memory to its bearer, granting +2 on one Intelligence-based skill check within the next hour. Hidden attribute: Answer the seller's riddle correctly and the locket grants a one-time use of the spell Identify without expending a spell slot.

A brass pocket lantern whose flame is cool blue and whose glass is etched with constellations.

Base effect: sheds moonlight-level illumination on command and grants advantage on checks to find hidden doors once per long rest. Hidden attribute: solving the riddle grants once per day 1 minute of True Seeing (as the spell).

A dull bronze coin with two faces carved into it that whisper when flipped.

Base effect: once per day you may add a bonus to a single Charisma (Persuasion) check, declared before the DM reveals the result. Hidden attribute: answer the riddle correctly and the coin can instead be spent to cast Charm Person (1st level) once.

A small silver pin in the shape of an hourglass; its sand seems to run downward, then upward, on inspection.

Base effect: once per long rest, as an action the pin stabilizes a dying creature and grants them HP. Hidden attribute: solving the riddle permanently increases that healing to for the bearer while attuned.

An ornate brass compass whose needle spins slowly even when held still.

Base effect: once per day it grants a bonus to navigation or tracking checks when following something that was lost or hidden. Hidden attribute: answering the riddle allows the user to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space they can see, usable once, as the compass briefly points to 'where it should be'.

A deck of twelve thin cards, each illustrated with a different tiny scene that shifts when looked at directly.

Base effect: produces simple illusions for roleplaying or distraction. Hidden attribute: answer the riddle correctly and one card gains the ability to cast Silent Image at will for the holder until next dawn.

Shop Atmosphere

The proprietor insists on offering each customer a riddle before the sale. If the buyer answers correctly, the item reveals a hidden property or an upgraded effect once (mechanic left to the DM, suggested: solving a riddle grants the hidden effect immediately or permanently if the item requires attunement). The shopkeeper loves ornate metaphors and will accept stories, poems, or puzzles in place of coin for small, nonmagical trinkets.
