A small glass vial of durable black ink and a balanced iron quill, favored by scribes for neat, quick writing.

Ink has roughly 60 strokes; ink is slightly stain-resistant.

High-quality vellum sheet. Good for spell copying or important letters.

A sturdy, portable tome meant for keeping notes, spells, and sketches.

Slow-burning beeswax candle with a gentle honey scent. Burns ≈ 6 hours.

A ribbon bookmark embroidered with a tiny quill motif.

A neatly illustrated book covering local herbs, teas, poultices and a few useful recipes.

Compact guide to beasts and humanoids most travelers encounter around the region.

A practitioner's handbook on simple rituals, cantrips, and common magical etiquette.

Contains a single 'how-to' for a harmless spectacle cantrip (nonmagical benefit for roleplay).

A secondhand spellbook with page notes from a mid-level student. Includes copied cantrips and a single 1st-level spell notation.

Contains a helpful marginal note that grants advantage on one Intelligence (Arcana) check related to transcription if the reader studies it for 10 minutes (usable once).

A single-use scroll that allows the reader to cast Cure Wounds (1st level) if the spell is on their class list.

Single use. Casting follows the spell scroll rules (if the spell is not on your class list, a spellcasting ability check may be required).

Single use; paralyzes a target on a failed Wisdom save, per spell description.

A single-use scroll containing Fireball. Dangerous and effective in open areas.

Single use; area effect spell (20-foot radius, 150 feet away). Useful but risky in tight quarters.

A feather quill that hums faintly when used to copy spells or write arcane notes.

When used to copy spells into a spellbook, it halves the time required and grants advantage on Intelligence (Arcana) checks for transcription up to three times per day (recharges at dawn).

A scruffy, charm-stitched book that feels warmer than it looks. It hums quietly when opened.

Once per day after 10 minutes' study, grants the reader a bonus to a single skill of their choice for 1 hour.

A foldable, annotated map showing alleyways, inns, and notable shops in the Old Quarter.

When used to actively navigate within the Old Quarter, grants the reader useful detail that can give the DM a reason to grant advantage on a single Navigation/Investigation check (use at DM's discretion).

Soft gloves that protect delicate hands and keep oils off fragile pages.

A small lens with a curved brass handle for reading fine script and seals.

Grants advantage on one Investigation/Perception check when inspecting small script or seals if the DM deems appropriate.

A durable spellbook specially treated to keep ink from fading and pages from crumbling.

Nonmagical preservation charm: ink lasts decades without fading; resists water damage for 1 minute.

A sealed envelope bearing a faux official seal. Good for props, misdirection, or stage uses.

A cozy collection of local tales, lullabies, and traditional sayings. Popular with families and bards.

Shop Atmosphere

The shop smells of honey and old paper. A plump gray cat named 'Ink' rules the premises and will nap on whichever book a customer is trying to examine (often used as a gentle test of patience). Elara offers a cup of herbal tea to anyone who browses for more than ten minutes and hums a soft tune while she works; she alphabetizes shelves by subject and by 'comfort' (books that soothe get top-shelf placement). She will not sell powerful destructive scrolls without asking three questions about the buyer's intent.
