Falsified manifests and port-clearance papers, stamped with a faded port authority seal. Good enough to convince a bored dock clerk for a quick inspection — or to delay a searching guard for an hour.

Grants advantage on deception checks to pass off a single crate/manifest as legal once. Papers are returned to the seller if used.

A set of hinged boards, false bottoms, and tarred seams designed to be fitted inside a chest or barrel to hide contraband. Requires carpentry time to fit.

Once installed, gives advantage on sleight of hand checks to hide a single small-to-medium item from cursory searches.

A heavy iron hook with three barbs and a short length of chain. Useful for hauling lines or boarding small vessels.

Can be used with a long rope to attempt boarding or climbing at DM discretion.

Thick hemp rope, salted and stitched to resist rot. Standard kit for sailors and smugglers alike.

A metal tin containing hot pitch, tar-soaked cloth, primitive caulking tools and instructions for patching small hull breaches.

Allows non-magical emergency repair: patch up to HP of a small boat's hull per kit (DM adjudication).

A dense, easy-to-seal sack used to throw weight in cargo holds; hollowed to allow secret storage if desired.

Contains a false cavity sufficient to conceal an object no larger than a potion vial or letter.

A sealed leather satchel of rough gunpowder intended for flintlocks; corrosive if stored wet.

Enough for ~5 shots in a flintlock; explosive if exposed to open flame in a confined space (DM hazard).

A sail made from scavenged canvas and reinforced with leather — cheap but serviceable for a sloop or longboat.

Slightly slower than a proper new sail: disadvantage on checks to outrun a strong wind for the first day until trimmed.

Raghnar will cut and outfit a small hidden compartment in a ship's bilge or under a bench. Price is for labor; materials extra.

Once installed, compartment hides up to 10 cubic feet. Gives +5 on Deception or Sleight of Hand to hide cargo during cursory checks.

A hastily scribbled note 'approved' by a contact who runs an evening lane — lets you load or unload without immediate interference if used in one specific dock sector.

Gives advantage on Persuasion checks to avoid minor scrutiny at the named dock district for one night.

A greasy flask used to pour a quick slick on a small patch of deck or a gangplank. Slippery, nasty-smelling.

When poured over a 5-foot square, creatures must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone when moving across it. Flammable.

A crude glass vial with a blackened cork. Raghnar smiles when he offers it and warns that its effects are... situational.

Once, the drinker may reroll one ability check or saving throw (use the second result). After use, the vial is useless. The item is uncommon in power but suspected to be cursed by some sailors who tried it too often.

A box containing flintstones, a bit of charcloth, and oily cloth for rapid fire-starting. Cheap, essential.

A leather-bound notebook that looks like a real logbook. Blank inside — perfect for planting false entries.

Weapons3

Short, broad blade used by sailors for cutting ropes and sudden close-quarters fighting. Sharpened and durable.

Thrown at short range with disadvantage; commonly used for cutting rigging.

A crude early firearm meant for close-range use. Loud and unreliable; spare flints and powder sold separately.

Single shot; reloading requires an action; misfire on natural 1 if the match is poor (DM decides). Not standard equipment in many ports.

A cutlass with a nicked blade and a handle repaired with twine. Still sharp enough to be dangerous in close quarters.

Standard one-handed slashing weapon. May impose a -1 penalty to initiative if the handle is loose (flavour).

Shop Atmosphere

The Keel & Shadow sits under a rusted crane in the port's worst lane; its lanterns are always low, and the air reeks of tar and stale beer. Raghnar answers questions with slow, amused nods and never uses his full name. Haggling happens in whispers; a cheap tin cup by the register collects promises and IOUs more than coins. Regulars knock three times on the doorframe and nod toward the sea before discussing business.
