Shop Atmosphere
“The shop smells faintly of brine and old tar. Jars of pickled things line a shelf above folded sailcloth. The owner keeps the largest chest unlocked and invites newcomers to 'look, but do not take without a swap.' A small bell fashioned from an old ship's bell rings if anyone tries to palm a coin. Sailors bring back odd trinkets and challenge coins that the proprietor displays with pride. The owner speaks in calm, clipped tones and offers rum to new customers. If a customer mentions a sky-ship or an island marked on a half-burned map, they are treated with curious hospitality and offered a discount on rope or a free smokeshell for luck.”
