Weapons6

A stout, perfectly balanced warhammer with a shallow clan rune on the haft. Favored by dockside stevedores for smashing crates and stubborn nails.

Short, chipped axe with a leather-wrapped haft. Useful both as tool and weapon.

Heavy one-handed axe with a broad blade, shaped for prying and cutting rigging as much as fighting.

Edge holds well against rope and wood.

Short-handled hammer fine-tuned for throwing and recovering on deck.

Less likely to bounce unpredictably on wet deck.

A short, seaworthy cutlass etched with a faint dwarvish rune that hums when salted air strikes it. One-of-a-kind in this small town.

Atk The rune resists rust; deals no extra damage but stays sharp longer than mundane blades.

A compact shortbow with reinforced tips and a salt-streaked finish—light enough to use aboard small craft.

Armor4

Round iron-rimmed wooden shield, rimed with copper to resist seawater. A few notches and a faded paint job from a long-ago boarding party.

AC +2Resists minor splintering and rot from saltwater.

Leather hardened and riveted with small iron studs; cut to allow working in cramped ship holds.

AC +12

Flexible chain shirt treated with oils to slow rust. Popular among sailors who can't spare full plate.

AC +13Salt-treating reduces chance of corrosive damage; requires occasional re-oiling.

Simple leather armor soaked in wax to repel water. Cheap and serviceable for deckhands.

AC +11Repels light moisture for a short time.
Miscellaneous9

Thrown net with small sealed weights and water-resistant twine, used for catching fish or hampering boarders.

Designed to drain water quickly so it doesn't bog down on deck.

Coiled length of hemp rope, heavy but reliable; Gromli keeps many spares.

Brass lantern with a sliding hood to direct light. Oil must be supplied separately.

A crude bundle of torches. Cheap, bright, and smoky—useful in a pinch.

Produce plenty of smoke; not ideal for stealth.

Coarse sharpening stone with a leather pocket. Gromli sharpens weapons for a copper or two.

Regular sharpening gives a weapon a small edge; DC for improvised maintenance may improve.

A small assortment of rivets, leather patches, and tar for quick armor or sail repairs.

Allows quick field repairs to armor or sails, restoring small functionality.

A small bronze bell engraved with an unfamiliar clan crest. Gromli never quite had the heart to break it down.

Ring carries farther across water than on land, according to local superstition.

Heavy wool cloak treated with wax; resists rain and helps keep a draught off the shoulders when working the rigging.

Reduces discomfort from wind/rain; dries faster than ordinary cloth.

A battered wooden box filled with assorted metal fasteners for ship and armor repair.

Miscellaneous3

Three-pronged iron hook with a tangle of leather straps. Useful for mooring or boarding.

Forged to catch rigging and railings securely.

Small kit with flint, steel, and tinder—keeps fires lit in damp weather.

Gromli insists on re-inking the flint with a special oil.

A compact kit of tongs, hammer, files, punches and a foldable anvil plate—organized in a battered leather roll.

Gives advantage on checks to craft or repair simple metal items if wielded by a proficient user.
Potions1

A small crimson vial; common and often on the shelf for bruises, deep cuts, and the occasional pole-to-the-gut.

Heal 7 HPHeals hp when consumed (average 7).

Shop Atmosphere

Gromli is a broad-shouldered dwarf who hoards anything that looks like it might be useful someday—chains, bells, odd fittings, even a rusted anchor chain in the back. He mutters clan-phrases while he works and will gratefully mend a weapon or sharpen a blade in exchange for a story of the sea. He distrusts flashy items but will haggle warmly over anything stamped with dwarvish runes. The shop smells of oil, tar, and old metal; every shelf is crammed and there are two kegs under the counter—one full of lamp oil, the other full of something that looks suspiciously like ale. In a small docking town, his inventory tilts toward seaworthy practicality, plus a scatter of sentimental trinkets he's unwilling to part with for mere coin.
