Shop Atmosphere

The shop smells of warm brass oil and cardamom. Every hour a small tower in the corner chimes in a staccato tick and a tiny caravan of wind-up beetles rearranges the window display. The proprietor accepts coin, water, rare sand-opals, and sometimes a favor in lieu of full price. If the bell over the door is rung in a triplet pattern the shopkeeper answers in verse.
