Shop Atmosphere
“The shop is a squat timber building under a row of leaning elms on the north side of the market square. Lanterns hang from hooks, and shelving is packed to the rafters with labeled jars, coils of rope, and goods from three continents. The air smells faintly of citrus oil and pine resin. Behind the counter sits Mirella Tarn, the proprietor: a level 6 human trader with a sharp eye and an infectious laugh. She wears a patchwork apron full of pockets, a silver chain with a tiny whetstone, and a pair of reading spectacles perched on the end of her nose. Mirella keeps a carved wooden cat on the counter that the locals feed with coin in exchange for gossip; she gives friendly haggles to adventurers who can tell a good tale or show a rare trinket. The shop's bell has a habit of ringing twice when she is especially pleased.”
