(12)A masterfully forged suit of heavy plate inlaid with dwarven runes and a faintly glowing holy sigil. The metal feels unnaturally steady and cold to the touch.
A heavy shield of beaten steel, embossed with a winged hammer. It feels warm under the hand and hums faintly with warding power.
A shimmering mesh vest of interlocked mithral-like rings woven by an elven craftsperson. The mail moves like fabric yet stops blades.
A slender longsword with a faint green sheen along its edge. The hilt is wrapped in supple elven leather; leaves and wind motifs trace the fuller.
A stout warhammer hammered so straight the head seems carved from a single vein of iron. A tiny silver halo is embossed on the face.
A two-handed greataxe forged from volcanic iron, its edge tipped with a seam of glassy, emberlike metal that warms but never burns the wielder.
A crystal phial filled with a viscous, rosy liquid warmed by a candle flame when held. Common among veterans and clergy alike.
Soft leather boots stitched with silver thread and mothwing patterns. They scarcely leave print in soft earth.
A brass censer inlaid with holy script. When lit, it produces a fragrant, pale smoke that smells of cedar and iron.
A narrow silver ring set with a tiny steel mote. It feels reassuring on the finger, like a hand on the shoulder.
A case of exclusive smith's tools: hammers, tongs, probes and vices, each tempered and inscribed with the maker's sigil.
A pair of heavy tongs engraved with tiny holy and dwarven runes. They hum faintly when near molten metal.
Borin Thalor
Shop Atmosphere
“The Hammer & Halo sits on the corner of a busy market lane; its front window is a lattice of polished iron and stained glass depicting a hammer beneath a halo. Inside, the air is a layered perfume of hot metal, cedar incense and beeswax. Borin Thalor, the proprietor, is a broad-shouldered half-elf with a dwarven beard-plait tradition (he keeps it short) and elven-poise in his movements. He was apprenticed to a dwarven runesmith and later ordained as a Forge Cleric, which explains the shop's blended styles: stout dwarven construction, elegant elven finishing touches, and the quiet sanctity of a temple forge. Borin speaks in measured tones, offers a blessing with every sale, and refuses to stock mundane, mass-produced goods — everything here is either magical, masterwork, or sanctified. He dislikes haggling (he prefers barter: a favor for a discount) and keeps a small brass bell shaped like a halo that he taps to calm customers before measuring them for armor. Clergy and those who bring a small offering of coal or incense receive a priestly discount; thieves and obvious liars find the bell rings twice and a discreet dwarf in the back appears with an offer they cannot refuse. The shop also maintains a ledger of commissions — if Borin is busy, he will accept detailed work and claim it will be done 'when the stars turn right and the iron sings.'”
