Shop Atmosphere

The Gilded Anvil sits on a cobbled lane in the wealthy quarter; gas-lanterns and gilded signboards contrast with soot-blackened stone. Inside, the air is a warm mixture of coal, hot metal, and lemon oil. Morgran Ironvein — a broad-shouldered mountain dwarf with trimmed silver beard and small brass goggles — runs the forge with an artisan's pride. He's affable but exacting: he polishes the rims of coins while bargaining and expects adventurers to pay for 'guild-grade' work. A small clockwork bellows (Morgran's 'sputter-box') helps keep the fire even; it wheezes a little song whenever a sale above 100 gp is made. He prefers cash (gp or pp), will haggle politely for mundane goods, and insists that magic items be inspected and approved by him before purchase. He keeps a private ledger of wealthy clients and accepts commissions — but warns in a gruff laugh that ornate work takes time and a measured deposit.
