Weapons6

A solidly made steel longsword with a polished pommel and a leather-wrapped grip. Balanced for both cutting and thrusting.

None. Reliable craftsmanship grants no magical bonus but reduces chance of breakage (DM fiat).

A heavy-headed hammer on a reinforced shaft. Good for breaking bones and smashing obstacles.

None.

A short, sharp blade used for everyday chores—cutting rope, leather, or wood shavings.

None.

A finely forged battle-axe tempered to hold an edge. The haft is bound with boiled leather; the head has decorative etching of Oakbarrow's oak motif.

Tomas' tempering process reduces the chance of dulling; counts as a superior nonmagical weapon (flavor — no mechanical bonus).

A thick wooden rod with iron bands — used as a battering tool or improvised club.

None.

A knightly arming sword made to commission: well-balanced, elegantly decorated crossguard and a fuller down the blade. This is the only 'premium' nonmagical piece Tomas keeps on display.

Considered masterwork — exceptional edge retention and craftsmanship. No mechanical +1, but favored by nobles and officers.
Armor5

A functional iron heater shield with simple brazing along the rim and a leather strap inside.

AC +2None.

Leather armor reinforced with metal studs and Tomasesque tight stitching. Comfortable and durable.

AC +12Grants normal studded leather AC (12 + Dex modifier).

Padded jacket worn under armor. Cheap but effective at preventing chafing and minor bruises.

AC +11None.

A heavy, expertly fitted half-plate with overlapping iron scales riveted to leather backing. Excellent for those who can pay for protection.

AC +15Normal half-plate properties (AC 15 + Dex up to +2, disadvantage on Stealth).

Simple iron-reinforced boots designed to protect feet from rolling logs and stray blades. Heavy but dependable.

AC +1Grants minor protection to toes: once per long rest, reduce damage from a crushing/stepping attack by (story tool).
Miscellaneous8

A collection of hammers, tongs, files, and a portable anvil patch. Useful for field repairs and small forging tasks.

Provides advantage on checks to repair or improvise metal items when used by a proficient smith or blacksmith tools user.

A small tin of iron bolts and nails — heavy, reliable, nothing fancy.

A polished brass whistle used by foremen and watchmen. Loud and clear even when wet.

Sound carries up to 300 ft under normal conditions; can be used to issue simple alerts.

Small box containing flint, a steel striker, and char cloth. Standard camping starter for reliably lighting fires.

Useful for starting fires even in damp weather (DM may grant advantage on checks with it).

A detachable iron spike that bolts to the face of a heater or round shield, turning a defense into an offensive option.

Adds the option to use a shield as an improvised weapon dealing piercing; does not affect shield's +2 AC.

A stitched leather patch kit with rivets and adhesive wax. Good for field repairs of leather and medium armor.

When used properly and with a successful tool check (smith's tools or leatherworker), restores 1 point of lost effectiveness to armor (DM ruling).

A metal frame fitted to a pack to protect contents and help carry heavier loads.

Adds +1 to carrying capacity and prevents crushing damage to contents (flavor/utility).

A small tin of paste Tomas applies to blades during tempering; believed to improve edge-holding and reduce brittleness.

When used by a smith on an already magical or rare weapon, it acts as a roleplay reagent; no mechanical effect unless the DM rules otherwise.

Shop Atmosphere

Burl's Forge doubles as the labourers' meeting hall: after dusk Burl keeps one bench clear and serves thick stew to regulars (free if you repair something for him). Burl always tells one tall tale about a forge spirit and will insist on tapping a hammer three times on his anvil before any sale to 'make the metal listen.' He frequently offers to mend an item for free if the customer brings a mug of ale and a good story.
