Shop Atmosphere
“Iron & Edge Smithy sits two streets back from the market, a squat forge of blackened stone with a battered iron sign shaped like a crossed hammer and blade. Inside the floor is sprinkled with metal filings and the air smells of coal, oil, and hot steel. Walls display finished weapons pegged with care, and a workbench beneath a skylight holds half-forged blades, a row of tempering vials, and a battered horn for late calls. The shopkeeper, Borun Ironmantle, is a broad-shouldered dwarf with a braided beard tucked into a leather apron speckled with soot. He speaks in a dry, gravelly voice and polishes his wares with a small ritual: a whispered line of dwarven blessing and a tap of his hammer. Borun bargains fair and will haggle a little for bulk or trade-ins; he will not sell anything overtly cursed and prefers to test unknown magic himself before it leaves his counter. He keeps a carved wooden toy sword behind the counter that he gives to true apprentices, and every Tuesday he runs "sharpening hour" when customers may bring weapons for a quick tune-up at a discount.”
