History

The Hearth and Hound has stood for three generations, begun by Willa’s grandmother as a safe haven for laborers and travelers. Its famous hearth is said to contain a lucky stone from the foundation of the old castle on the hill.

Quirks

The inn’s ever-present sheepdog, Buster, politely greets each guest but only seems to bark at particularly shady visitors. Nights often feature impromptu storytelling, and it’s considered bad luck not to place a copper coin in the hearth’s ash for safe travels.

Lore

Legend speaks of tunnels beneath the village, remnants from centuries past when the area was rife with bandits and secret societies. Some say the inn was specifically built atop these passages to guard their secrets, and every few years, someone disappears—if only for a night, reemerging with tales they dare not tell.
