Quirks

House rule: weapons may be kept sheathed but must be checked with the bouncer if a brawl is starting. Every fourth patron to break a tankard owes a round to the house. A carved boar's head over the hearth is tapped for good luck before bets are placed.

Locals claim the carved boar over the hearth is blessed to keep ill luck out — or perhaps it draws mischief in so the rest of town stays quiet. Old-timers tell of a secret sewer gate beneath the tavern floor that once allowed soldiers to move unseen; some say smugglers still use those tunnels when the tide is high. The Raucous Boar's notice board is known to carry employment for fledgling adventurers and the occasional whisper of trouble: if there's work worth doing and not fit for the magistrate, it will be posted there by sunset.
