The Ironcask Haven

The Ironcask Haven was founded twenty-seven years ago by Bromli's great-uncle as a stopping point on a once-dangerous trade route. Over the decades it evolved into an informal guildhall for freelance adventurers: a place to hire skilled hands, fence goods, and exchange rumors. Bromli inherited the place after an ambush took his older brother; since then he tightened security and added the weapons locker and the sharpening anvil.

History

The Ironcask Haven was founded twenty-seven years ago by Bromli's great-uncle as a stopping point on a once-dangerous trade route. Over the decades it evolved into an informal guildhall for freelance adventurers: a place to hire skilled hands, fence goods, and exchange rumors. Bromli inherited the place after an ambush took his older brother; since then he tightened security and added the weapons locker and the sharpening anvil.

Quirks

Bromli insists on pouring the fifth cup for 'luck' — patrons refusing it are gently ribbed. A small bronze bell near the hearth rings thrice before any bouncer steps in; it's also used to call for quiet during sensitive meetings. Mice have been trained to fetch small coins from under the tables (entertaining and sometimes used to settle a lost bet).

Lore

Old-timers say the cellar is built atop a cold seam of ironstone that hums during certain nights. Dwarven miners used this seam to forge a 'luck-stone' long ago; Bromli keeps a small shard embedded above the bar — patrons whisper that it wards against misfortune, but some say it attracts it. The tavern has been a neutral ground for guilds, mercenaries, and clerics, and as such many small treaties and grudges were born within its walls.
