The Thistledown Glade

The Thistledown Glade started as a simple lean-to over a spring used by travelers centuries ago. Branna's mentor, a half-dwarf druid named Oren Mosswise, planted the living benches and negotiated a pact with the neighboring fey to keep the space neutral and safe for weary travelers. Over generations the glade grew into a retreat where hunters, rangers, and wandering bards meet. The tavern has weathered a logging raid and one minor skirmish with highwaymen; its wooden bones are old but tended with druidic care.

History

The Thistledown Glade started as a simple lean-to over a spring used by travelers centuries ago. Branna's mentor, a half-dwarf druid named Oren Mosswise, planted the living benches and negotiated a pact with the neighboring fey to keep the space neutral and safe for weary travelers. Over generations the glade grew into a retreat where hunters, rangers, and wandering bards meet. The tavern has weathered a logging raid and one minor skirmish with highwaymen; its wooden bones are old but tended with druidic care.

Quirks

The tavern collects small offerings: coins are fine, but many patrons tip with trinkets, pressed leaves, or carved acorns. A very soft, constant tinkling—wind through glassy seed pods—accompanies conversations; sometimes animals (a fox or two, an owl) wander through and are treated as honored guests.

Lore

Locals claim the tavern sits on a ley point where forest and moonlight meet; on certain nights the glowcaps pulse in time with the moon. An old tale says that anyone who sleeps in the private leafing rooms on the night of the leaf-fall will dream of the forest's memories—some wake with useful warnings, others with burdensome secrets. Older patrons sometimes tell stories of a 'Keeper of Roots'—a shadowed fey who bargains in memories rather than coin—said to have blessed the spring long ago.
