Quirks

A small bronze bell hangs by the hearth; when struck once at twilight, the staff will bring out an extra pot of stew if the bell's tune is completed by someone humming along. Locals insist the tune keeps bad luck away.

Lore

Locals say the hearth stone was taken from the base of a ruined watchtower and that its ember was lit by a pilgrim whose name was never recorded. Superstitious townsfolk claim the hearth keeps more than cold at bay—on stormy nights, whispered names near the fire are sometimes answered by a draft that smells faintly of sea salt and old iron, a reminder of the road's dangers and the watchmen who once kept it.
