History

Built 60 years ago by Marta’s late grandmother, The Hearthstone Rest has always been a safe haven for travelers and townsfolk. It survived a bad winter and a goblin raid by serving as a makeshift shelter and meeting house.

Quirks

The tavern is always lightly scented with baking bread, and a small black cat named Porridge is often found atop the fireplace mantle—Marta insists she brings luck. Low folk songs are gently strummed by Marta most evenings.

Lore

Some claim the inn’s stones were taken from an ancient ruin in the nearby woods, and faintly carved sigils on the mantlepiece glow in certain moonlight—a sign, perhaps, of forgotten magic rooted right here in the hearth.
