Quirks

The Bayview Tavern & Inn keeps a chipped iron bell above the bar: any patron who rings it must buy a round. Bartenders ignore the bell when 'feuds' are in progress. Patrons often leave a single coin on the board for 'the next traveler' — Marta keeps a jar of these small kindnesses behind the bar.

Lore

The tavern's notice board has been the place where several minor heroes first met their companions — edge-of-town songs tell of at least three notable adventuring parties that formed within its walls. The tavern is also said to have a 'Good Luck Ember' — a coal from the original hearth that is never allowed to go cold; patrons toss a coin into Marta's jar and make a small vow before setting out on perilous quests.
