The GreenPort Tap
GreenPort Tap rose with the rise of river Haven trade. When Vigil's docks swelled with barges carrying grain, timber, and foreign cloth, the inn on Oldbridge's approach transformed from a plain waystation into a center of dockside commerce and gossip. Sera Mall bought the Tap after the previous owner skipped town with a captain's purse; she rebuilt the cellar to serve as a secure meeting place and quietly added hidden stashes in the floor and behind the hearth. Over decades the Tap became a favored haunt for day laborers, independent smugglers, fences, and anyone who needed cheap drink and discretion. Marc de la Chaîne once commanded a large gang and still walks the Tap with the easy authority of a man who understands both faith and the street. More recently the drought that grips the duchy has raised the stakes; merchants and smugglers whisper of cargo being held back, of ships rerouting, and of a Barony that might seize river commerce if grain becomes scarce.
