The Gilded Hearth Inn
The Gilded Hearth began as a wayside cottage four decades ago, built by a traveling carpenter who kept his doors open to road-worn merchants. Over the years it was expanded into an inn by successive owners. Twenty years ago it was the rally point for local farmers who drove off a bandit raiding party, an event still toasted each harvest. Three years ago Maren Holt, a former caravan guard, bought the inn and renovated the common room, added private chambers, and installed the stage to draw in traveling entertainers. The building sits on a shallow rise overlooking the trade road, which is why patrols and traders favor it as a waypoint.
