The Ember and Anchor
The Ember and Anchor began as a cart stop outside a river crossing twenty years ago. Its first owner was a veteran courier who built the hearth and a lean-to for riders. As caravans grew and more hirelings arrived seeking work, the cart stop became a proper tavern and a favored first stop for fledgling adventurers. Over the years the place earned a reputation as a reliable haven for those with coin and those without. The current keeper bought the tavern ten years ago and formalized many of its services for adventurers: the notice board, the training yard, and a quiet alcove for fragile plans. Rumors of a buried chest under the south hearth persisted after a flood, but no one has recovered anything of value.
