Quirks

The Tankard enforces a 'last laugh' rule: if you start a song, you must finish it or buy a round. The tavern cat, Splinter, steals small trinkets and places them on the hearth. Patrons mark the table nearest the door with carved tally marks for every brawl they survived. On particularly rowdy nights someone will hang a 'Challenge Tankard' token and the winner gets a free night's lodging.

Lore

Locals joke that the Tankard's flagstone foundation hides parts of an old milestone from the kingdom road. Some say a faint rune was once carved into one stone and that every time someone sings loudly enough the rune seems to shimmer. No scholar has confirmed the rune, but treasure hunters and curious clerics still check the cellar when they can get past the ale.
