Quirks

A friendly grey mouser named Nettle insists on sitting on the lap of anyone who leaves a napkin. The eastmost floorboard by the hearth squeaks three times in sequence when someone in the room is lying or omitting the full truth. The innkeeper keeps a 'spare mug' jar for travellers with empty pockets and chips in with a fresh apron when somebody needs a favor.

Lore

Locals say the building rests on the foundations of an older wayhouse from before the last great road was paved. Old-timers tell a story about a 'hobb' spirit who loved warmth and shelter and that is why the hearth never truly goes cold. The inn keeps modest rooms and honest meals, making it a favored stop for newly minted adventurers and apprentices who cannot yet afford the more expensive inns in town.
