La Chope de Travers
La Chope de Travers opened forty years ago as a low-ceilinged alehouse built into a crooked lot. The original proprietor set the first beam at an angle to fit the parcel and the building has settled that way ever since, which gave the inn its name - the Tilted Tankard. Over the years the place changed hands several times and served as a rest stop for merchants and a safe place for down-on-their-luck adventurers. A small scuffle twenty years back left a scarred table that still bears the marks of blades and a failed tavern brawl. The current keeper, a retired sellsword, bought it after saving a barmaid from a local thug. The upstairs was partially sealed after a small collapse; locals say the mason found signs of an old cellar that was bricked up long ago.
