A brass-inlaid dice token (emblazoned with a four-pointed road symbol) is wedged into the hearth—locals toss a coin onto it for good luck before leaving. Bards who compete for the nightly purse are allowed three true tales; a fourth tale earns a free pint but the storyteller must produce some physical token from their travels.

Lore

Locals claim the stone threshold outside the tavern was once part of an ancient milepost that guided pilgrims and hunters; the carved road symbol on the dice token is said to be part of a map language used by an old guild of wayfinders. Old-timers say when all four braziers burn at full strength on the longest night, the crossroads just beyond the Hollow briefly shows hints of paths that no one remembers—some call them ghost-roads that lead to lost places.
