Quirks

A hammered brass bell hangs by the bar — when Marta rings it twice the room falls silent for a 'challenge' (brawls, wagers, or open mic insults). The tavern cat, 'Knuck,' patrols laps on the bar and has a penchant for stealing unattended coins. Patrons toss a small scrap of leather into a wooden boar's mouth above the hearth when they want someone 'taken outside' to settle a score.

Lore

Locals say the boar's jaw above the hearth is luck — toss a coin into its mouth before a fight and you'll 'get a fair scrap.' Rumor has it the cellar once hid a stash from a shipwrecked merchant; some say a single marked crate remains undiscovered. The tavern is also whispered to be a neutral ground for the 'Red Sash' pickpockets — they won't strike inside the Boar, but they'll meet in the upstairs room on new moons. Those who anger Marta risk more than a brawl: she remembers faces and holds grudges like a smith holds a hammer.
